Serves: 4 burgers

Preparation time: 60 minutes

Ingredients:

• 800 gr / 1.8 pounds of Beef containing 80 % lean meat and 20% fat (you can also combine different pieces)
• 1 table spoon of salt
• 2 teaspoons ground black pepper

Steps

Make your own minced meat using a meat grinder
You get the best result when you make your own minced meat by using a meat grinder. Try to make as fine as possible minced meat. Cut the meat into small chunks so your machine can handle it more easy. After the first session mince the minced meat again for an even better and more fine structure.

Without a meat grinder
Go to your local butcher and mention you need proper beef meat with at least 20 % fat to make hamburgers. A good butcher will know what to do and offer good quality meat that will minced freshly for you. When buying pre packed minced meat ensure it has a lot of white fat in it and that it is 100% beef and not mixed with pork meat.

1. Season the minced meat with salt and ground black pepper (to taste)
2. Use your hands to form 4 balls of each 200gr / 0.4 pounds of meat
3. Shape the balls carefully into hamburgers. Don’t press too hard otherwise your hamburgers will become dry and firm instead of fluffy and juicy
4. Fry your burgers on a pan or bbq, by turning and baking each side properly. Try to avoid turning the burgers too many times just take your time on a medium heat
5. Serve on hamburger bun with your toppings of choice, Enjoy!
